Chinese New Year 2012 events review

The Spring Festival [Chun Jie]/Chinese New Year period 2012 - the Year of the Dragon -- witnessed a range of events by the OCES and in support of our partner organisation the Bournemouth University Chinese Students and Scholars Association.  A selection of images from these events are included here:

Please see our Vision Statement and how we work/what we do information below: some images from our 2012 Chinese New Year events are incuded first:

The OCES provided strong support to the AUCB for their celebrations, including Chinese calligraphy presentation by Ms Yumei Yang, and traditional Chinese dumplings freshly cooked by Mrs Xiaojing Barnes (both OCES trustees and advisors).  Also at the Arts University College Bournemouth an OCES exhibition was held in the library, that was joined by a traditional Chinese costumes exhibition provided by our friends at the CSSA.

Our partners at the CSSA also hosted, with OCES support [including external public liaison and the direct assistance of Sam Price, as joint MC, and Yumei as a key coordinator] a highly successful Chinese New Year party at Dylan's Bar in Poole House (BU Talbot campus). VIP guests included Ms Zhu Li (a senior representative from the Education Section of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China), the mayors and mayoreses of both Poole and Bournemouth, representatives of Dorset Race Equality Council (DREC) and Dorset Healthcare University Foundation Trust (DHUFT), and amongst other VIP's Mr Andrew Williams Manager at the Bournemouth Council Safer and Stronger Communities Team.

In addition, OCES Co-chairperson Mrs Gigi Lau facilitated a highly succesful Chinese dumplings cookery workshop at the Catering School of the Bournemouth & Poole College: the enthusiastic support and facilitation of this provided by Catering School Head, Mr Robert Kells, being most appreciated.
