OCES Chinese community NHS services access information pack now printed + Councillor Chris Wakefield fundraising event

As you will be aware from our recent news article, the OCES in conjunction with Bournemouth and Poole NHS PCT, Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole LINks, Dorset Race Equality Council and other supporting organisations such as the DHUFT, has created an important Dorset Chinese community NHS services access and engagement pack.

This will be distributed through OCES partnering organisations such NHS trusts and Dorset Race Equality Council as well as LINks.

Over the past nine months OCES officers and members, with the support of partnering organisation the Bournemouth University Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA), and others in the Dorset Chinese community, have worked closely with Dorset LINks officer Sarah Peters in carrying out an important survey regarding levels of engagement/uptake and of NHS services by members of that community.  This project is being developed further and will contribute to related projects in which the OCES is contributing to community engagement liaison by the Bournemouth and Poole NHS PCT, and other NHS trusts and social services of local councils.

Bournemouth LINk have funded printing related costs for this information pack and will be further assisting to ensure this valuable and groundbreaking resource in English and Simplified Chinese will be available to many more through distributing its PDF version to its extensive contact network: this material has now been printed and will be available in hard copy in the near future. All at the OCES are delighted by this assistance kindly provided by Bournemouth LINk lead Councillor Chris Wakefield.
